Since opening its magnificent doors in 1930, The Hotel Nacional de Cuba has been an essential destination for prominent figures from the worlds of art, science, and politics. The Hotel has welcomed personalities such as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, artists Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Robert Redford, Robert de Niro, Michael Keaton, Maria Félix, Jorge Negrete, and scientist Alexander Flemming, amongst others. Images of prominent past visitors and guests also line the Hotel’s hallways.
The Hotel Nacional de Cuba is a National Monument. It is inscribed in the World Memory Register as a part of history. In the Hotel’s grounds also exhibit the canons that were part of the historic Santa Clara Battery. The cannons, along with Old Havana, are part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
