The Tropicana was built in 1939 in the Marianao neighborhood. It was designed to accommodate 300 guests, something that seemed like an unrealistic feat at the time. Today, the Tropicana fills almost to capacity for its showstopping performance. As you walk in, you instantly feel welcomed by large majestic trees, such as royal palm trees, ackee and mango trees, cedars, and many others that adorn the entrance to the club. The greenery forms part of the interior design, giving this enchanted place the aspect and sensation of a magic forest. In the distance, amongst the trees, you will see the sign for Tropicana Cabaret. As you watch people exit vintage cars by the entrance, you won’t be able to help to imagine how it must have been to drive up to the cabaret during its heyday!
As you are making your way inside the cabaret for the show, note the interesting sculptures around the entrance, such as the Fountain of the Nymphs and the Slender Dancer by the entrance, surely symbolic of the decadence of earlier times in Cuba. You may catch a band outside playing live music. Make sure you get your picture by the Tropicana sign next to the door. The stellar service comes with refreshments and a little bubbly. The performance tells the story of Cuban history and its people through interpretive dance. Get ready to have a night of entertainment in one of the largest and most beautiful nightclubs in Cuba, with a production of over 200 dancers and singers performing under the stars.
